Florian Malapel – le French Resistance

Please introduce yourself: Hi I’m Florian Malapel, french dude born in the North of France in 1993, I always been interested by everything which concern computer science, so I started to study this field at the university of Valenciennes, quickly I oriented myself in the web and mobile development.

For my final year of my degree I had to do an internship, wanting to discover a new city and increase my skills in English I decided to do my research in London. That’s how I met the great team of Webdezign in 2015 for an 8 weeks internship.

What are you doing now?

Now I’m still studying computer science in a Master’s degree in the city of Lille, always in the North of France, but now I give up a little the web development, to focus myself on the development of android or iOS applications. I’m working actually on an app with a friend, but I can’t tell you more about it for the moment, it’s confidential :p

What was your favourite lunch?

It’s a tough one, because many of them were really delicious… But I think if I should choose one, it would be the lunch at Lahores. I never found such a good Pakistani restaurant in France !

What was the 1 single lesson you took away from your time at Webdezign?

I can’t just choose one, because I learnt many things ! But I had the chance to have meetings with a customer 1-1 side by side, to help him to understand how to use what we developed for him. It was very instructive, because I needed to understand what he was expected and respond to his expectations, it also allow me to increase my english skills.

Do you have an unforgettable moment from your time at Webdezign?

Of course !! One of this moments was the first time I heard the song of the rapper Dave in charge who was working with us, it was really funny !

How did you find & choose Webdezign in the first place?

I was searching on google the companies which work in the web development, I found a lot of them but when I found Webdezign and saw in the series of blogs that many foreign people had already worked and enjoyed their time here, I thought that it would be the perfect place to do my first internship abroad. And I was right !

Do you have any recommendations or suggestions for future interns/employees?

Not specially, just relax, the atmosphere is very pleasant and everyone is really nice in the company! And ask to Mike to have a lunch at Lahores!
